What a Doozie!

Well, I finally got a decent digital camera but still can't get the lighting just right to start work on the Crescendo remake. I'll probably just have to move the whole thing outside for better shots. So until then here's Daffie's twin Doozie. I'm not certain if the rules are correct for the extra bumper but I think the sounds are about right. I may release Daffie 1.2 later with some improvements. I'm also working on some original tables, one is Gemhunt II with Kinsey. I've found its a lot more fun and relaxing to work on something original than to nit pick a real table to death. Enjoy!

A New Crescendo

Well, I finally started on the remake of Crescendo, the first pin I ever bought, and my first VP recreation. A lot has happened since then. Back then we couldn't put images on walls or drop targets. We didn't have reels and had to animate table objects with drop walls and ball images. Now we have fully rendered and animated tables that look totally real. My digital camera isn't as good as Plumb's but hopefully this version of Crescendo will be close to the quality of Daffie. It may take some time for me to complete this one since I started a new job and don't have as much free time as I did before. Here's a sample...

How about two releases?

Ok, so I've been working on Eros One also. I want to thank Apoc very much for providing the great pics and for figuring out the rules. I think he about wore out his machine getting them! Eros One is a nice looking cocktail pin. I almost bought one myself but my wife would have killed me. Its a nice blend of modern and classic pins, just the kind of table I would like to make someday, if all goes well that is. Check out Retro Pins. We can dream can't we?

Yes Another Release!

I've been working on Daffie for some time now and I think its about time to shove it out the door. Plumb and MrFixx have been very gracious in supplying me with photos and sounds. I could probably use a few more sounds and maybe some more flipper pics but I'm tired of it sitting on my hard drive. I figure I'll release another version somewhere down the road. I'd also like to thank both of them for picking it up for me and giving it a home til I can come and pick it up. She's a nice looking pin. Hope you all enjoy! If you see any problems with the reels let me know. I tried my best to make it render properly.

Yes an Actual Release!

I finally decided to release Polo. It's been done for ages, but I didn't feel like releasing it because of all the problems in the VP community and because of the driver issues with using reels. I purchased a couple different video cards and each one displays the reels differently. Some display a thin line on the sides of some reels, other cards completely mess up the transparent colors. Ugh! For this release I spent considerable time making it look as best I could on the cards I have. Your card's performance may differ. I don't think I will be making many more tables with all the extra work that is required, so this may be my last. Enjoy!

Its Been a While

A lot has happened since the last post. More errosion in the community. A lot of good people of dropped out, including Black, the last person actively involved in Visual Pinball development. It's partly my fault I must admit. As a beta tester for Black I was responsible for pointing out the problems I saw and I felt obligated to tell him that making a major change like removing an essential VP function would be the wrong path to take. Most developers feel an attachment for their work and get very defensive if you challenge its perfection. That combined with the constant infighting among VP table authors prompted Black to end his work on VP and move on to other things that interested him. Which is truely a shame because there are so many more things that could be done and many small annoying things like video card issues left to fix. Black and I still talk to each other from time to time, but he's happy now on his new Jumpman project. Good luck Black! We miss you.

Site News

For a while I was having problems accessing anything on this site which meant I couldn't update the web pages, couldn't get to the chat room, and couldn't get ANY of my email. At first it looked like the problem was on the webhost side, but after they helped trace the problem it turned out to be my ISP's fault. They were blocking all access to this IP for no reason. But during this whole week long process I signed up with another webhost in order to get my email and created another chatroom. I didn't want to pay for two sites but such is life. You put all your eggs in one basket and something is sure to go wrong. At some point I guess I will go back to one site again. But until then you can access the "other" chatroom at www.thefunhouse.nu. There's nothing there but a link to the chatroom.
